Sixty-five - yes, 65!😃 - MWHS students gathered for the Art Guild's first meeting of the school year. The purpose of the club is to allow creative students to make art around other like-minded students and to have fun!🎉 The club brings together creative people and shares students' talents with the school and community through art projects and events. For their first project of the year, students are creating decorative ornaments that will be available to our community beginning next month. The ornaments will be offered throughout the school year. National Art Honor Society members serve as leaders of the Art Guild. They plan projects, get materials ready and help and instruct on the meeting days. It’s just one big, creative family! 🌟🎨💜

Congratulations to MWHS Senior Liam Gaffney who will serve as student guest speaker for Orange County's Red Ribbon Week Kick-Off event on Monday, October 24. This year's theme is "Celebrate Life, Live Drug Free." According to MaryAlice Kovatch, Prevention Coordinator, OC Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Council, "We can think of no other student in the county who has worked as hard or been as dedicated to teen mental health and substance abuse. It would be an honor to have you speak and inspire students from across the county."

SC Assistant Principal Chana Markiewicz, aka guest reader in the Enchanted Garden library, enjoyed reading "Dreamers" by Yuyi Morales to one of SC's bilingual classes. This true, uplifting story shares about the author's experience as an immigrant and how her connection with the library, and books, opened up the door to a new world. What a great way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! 📚💜
