K-9 unit visits North main

On Friday, October 28, North Main Elementary had some very special visitors: Officer Berke and K-9 Keen from the Village of Monroe Police Department.

Officer Berke demonstrated the skill involved and the work performed by the K-9 team. Keen searched and found a "missing" person in the woods (which was really Officer Munoz). Officer Burke showed how Keen responded to both her verbal and hand signals. The students were very excited when Detective Payton volunteered to be the "bad guy" and Keen demonstrated how he apprehends criminals. Don't worry, Detective Payton was protected...and unharmed!

The students had a great experience and now have a four legged friend in the police department!

Special thanks to: Officer Berke, K-9 Keen, Detective Payton, Officer Munoz, and School Resource Officer Mahoney.
