police officer with dog and students

North Main celebrated Red Ribbon Week with a visit from Monroe Police Department’s K-9 unit. Sergeant Melissa Berke, along with K-9 Keen, demonstrated how police dogs are trained to assist officers during investigations.

The officers showcased K-9 Keen’s prowess on the force and the special role he plays.  Supporting Sgt. Berke and K-9 Keen with the demonstration were Officers Justin Romer and Safety Resource Officer Kyle Mahoney who reminded students about the importance of safety and staying away from drugs.
