M-W lacrosse and baseball players, along with their families, visited Stewart Airport in New Windsor on Saturday, April 13, to cheer on veterans who traveled as part of the Honor Flight Mission #32.
Baseball players were on hand for the send-off early in the morning, while lacrosse players cheered on the vets when they returned. This marks the 7th year Crusader baseball has participated in the Honor Flight program.
On the flight was a Vietnam vet and father of North Main physical education teacher Joe Pesce. The crowd included many Crusaders, including Carson, a graduating senior and grandson of the elder Mr. Pesce.
The mission of Honor Flight is to celebrate Americaās veterans by inviting them to share in a day of honor at our nation's memorials. The Honor Flight Network is a national network of independent Hubs working together to honor our nationās veterans with an all-expenses paid trip to the memorials in Washington, D.C., a trip many of our veterans may not otherwise be able to take. Participation in an Honor Flight trip gives veterans the chance to share this momentous trip with other veterans, to remember friends and comrades lost, and share their stories and experiences with each other.
Thank you, veterans, for your service.šŗšøš©
