One Book, One School is an organization that reinforces reading, not only in school, but in the family, bringing school and home closer together and building a community by sharing a story.
Enjoy the excitement on April 10 as North Main students gathered in the gym to find out what book they would read. Students received their own wrapped book as they entered the Kick-Off event, and waited to unwrap them until the signal was given. Loud cheers erupted when they realized the book, which was theirs to keep, was Katherine Applegate's "Wishtree."
For the month of April, all students were assigned to read the same chapters each night, either by themselves, with a family member, relative or friend, or to have the book read to them from a calendar of recordings by teachers, community members and even the Superintendent. Each day, special projects, trivia contests and prizes kept the excitement going. Imagine all the students enjoying the same story simultaneously. Visit the One Book, One North Main website for more information.
Now that you've watched the Kick-Off, stay tuned for the surprise wrap-up of the month's events, coming in May. Way to go North Main's readers! We are so proud of you!
