Congratulations to Coach Matt Hemmer who has been selected as The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Boys Cross Country Coach of the Year for New York State.
One boys coach and one girls coach from 50 states – as well as the District of Columbia – were honored for their successes during the fall of 2023, as selected by a committee of experts from around the nation. State-by-state winners were selected based on their teams’ performances throughout the 2023 cross country season.

As the county and school district continue to assess road conditions, Monroe-Woodbury schools and offices will open on a 2-hour delay schedule on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. More information will be forthcoming if necessary.
The start of the academic day will be as follows:
M-W High School – 9:08 a.m. start time
M-W Middle School – 10:15 a.m. start time (AM classes will begin at 9:25 a.m.)
Sapphire and Smith Clove – 10:30 a.m. start time
Central Valley, North Main and Pine Tree – 11:15 a.m. start time
Students will be picked up at bus stops approximately two hours later than usual. All buses, both in and out-of-district, operate on the specified delay schedule.
All CTE programs at BOCES will be bussed based on the Monroe-Woodbury schedule. Students will not be charged for absence from BOCES if buses are not available. BOCES delayed opening cancels morning CTE programs.

Due to the forecast for an extended period of heavy rains, high winds and mixed precipitation, all Monroe-Woodbury students will be dismissed early today, Tuesday, January 9, to give our transportation team sufficient time to safely transport all students.
Dismissal times for each building are as follows:
M-W High School – 10:30 a.m. dismissal
UPK - 11:10 a.m. dismissal
M-W Middle School – 11:37 a.m. dismissal
Sapphire and Smith Clove (K-1) – 11:45 a.m. dismissal
Central Valley, North Main, Pine Tree – 12:45 p.m. dismissal
Buses can be expected to arrive at bus stops 3 hours earlier than usual.
Please note that all after school activities and the YMCA Club Kid program are canceled. Morning CTE students will be transported directly home from BOCES and PM CTE classes are canceled.

Along with the Monroe Police Department, the Kids Changing the World Club held its first Toy Drive to benefit kids in the M-W community. During the last week before winter break, members of the Kids Changing the World Club gathered at the Monroe Police Station where they delivered and distributed toys they helped to collect to district children. It was a perfect way to give back to the community and kickstart the holiday season.🎁🤗🙏

On Friday, December 15, the Kids Changing the World Club delivered hats they had collected to Garnet Health Medical Center's Cancer Center. These hats were collected during the club's annual Hats for Hope Drive to benefit cancer patients at the hospital.
For the first time, the Crochet for a Cause Club at the high school also took part in this drive by donating a bag full of hats that they created during club meetings this fall. It was a perfect partnership of two clubs coming together for a worthy cause.

Due to the extended weather event and widespread flooding of roadways, all Monroe-Woodbury schools and offices are now closed today, Monday, December 18, 2023.
High school students and those middle school students who came to school for early classes will be transported home with a dismissal time of 10:30 a.m. There are no afternoon BOCES classes. All after school activities and Club Kid are canceled. Concerts will be rescheduled.

Congratulations to the nine M-W fall varsity teams who earned the 2023 “Scholar-Athlete” title from The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA).
At the end of each sports season, the NYSPHSAA honors those teams and individuals that excel in the classroom. To receive Scholar-Athlete team recognition, 75 percent of the team rosters’ grade point average be 90.00 or above.
All Monroe-Woodbury fall varsity teams earned the 2023 Scholar-Athlete recognition.

Students from Mr. Vero's College CPR /First Aid class took a field trip to The Orange County Emergency 911 Center and Touro Medical College. At the Orange County Emergency 911 Center, students were taken on a guided tour where they learned about the different divisions that make up emergency management at the county level and the importance of being prepared for an emergency.
At Touro Medical College, students learned about the many different career paths in medicine and had the amazing opportunity of receiving a hands-on tour of several of the college's laboratories,including the Simulation lab and the Anatomy and Physiology lab.
What an awesome way for M-W students to learn firsthand about career opportunities in medicine!🩺😁
