Sapphire Elementary students were visited by high school students from Mrs. Laverty’s and Mrs. Orkoulas' classes who are participating in on-the-job training as teaching assistants and clerical assistants. These high school students dedicate their time to help Sapphire classes by planning and facilitating crafts and activities. Students, faculty, and staff absolutely love seeing the high school students each week and look forward to their visits.
The students also become "pen pals" with students in Ms. Bregman's class, which strengthens relationships across the district for students of all ages. This partnership between Sapphire and Monroe-Woodbury High School students, faculty, and staff was developed and implemented by Sarah Caputo, Sapphire's Speech and Language Pathologist. Even during remote learning, Mrs. Caputo sustained these interactions through the use of technology and innovation. Our students have developed life-long memories as a result, creating a very special #mwlegacy!
