July 14, 2022
Dear Monroe-Woodbury High School students and families,
I am excited to announce that the Monroe-Woodbury Board of Education appointed Elisa Correa-Soto as Monroe-Woodbury High School Principal at a special meeting held this morning, July 14, 2022. Mrs. Soto is an experienced educator and administrator with an established history within our school district. I am thrilled to welcome her back as a member of our school community effective August 15.
Mrs. Soto emerged as the successful candidate after an extensive search and interview process, which included stakeholders from across the district. She brings a demonstrated commitment to student and staff well-being and success, extensive leadership experience, effective communication skills, and a strong knowledge of curriculum and instruction to this critical role in our district.
For the past five years, Mrs. Soto has held leadership positions in large districts with diverse populations, including Beacon City School District, where she was Principal of Beacon High School, and Newburgh Enlarged City School District, where she currently serves as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction.
During her eight years as MWHS Assistant Principal, Mrs. Soto made strong connections with families, actively engaged with students, increased course offerings and supported staff and parent committees to improve the learning and social environment within the building.
Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Soto back to our district. I am confident she will be an excellent addition to the M-W administrative team and will bring much-needed stability and strong leadership to MWHS. She will be sharing more detailed information directly with students and families prior to the start of the 2022-2023 school year.
Warm regards,
Elsie Rodriguez
Superintendent of Schools
