Monroe-Woodbury High School celebrates students Julissa Rivera, Shenny Mejia Campos and Paulina Herrera who have been accepted into the Hudson Valley Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute (PR/HYLI). Created by the late Assemblyman Angelo Del Toro, the PR/HYLI has guided students of Hispanic descent to gain opportunities and form lasting bonds.
The PR/HYLI helps Hispanic students gain an understanding of the New York State legislative process by participating in and researching legislative proposals as well as developing and expanding their leadership skills. Students accepted to this program have the opportunity to visit the New York State Capitol Building and even deliver arguments on the Assembly Floor.
Way to go, Crusaders!
