Congratulations to the MWHS chess team that earned second place in the Mid-Hudson Scholastic Chess League (MHSCL) for the 2023-24 season. This year's tournament participants were: Daniel Christie, David Lanuti, Matthew Difate, Jackson Lawrence-Carafa, Joshua Barbanel, Bryan Amaya, Jaden Medrano, Sebastian Abrego, Anthony Grueiro, Matthew Safizadeh, Brayden Osmin, James Marin, Max Xavier, Clarissa Pagoada, Joon Noh, Ethan Martin, Iman Brahmi, and Joseph Piriano.
The MHSCL was established in 2002 and consists of Mid-Hudson Valley schools dedicated to promoting the game of chess. A team's accumulated score is the sum of that team's points in the tournaments. The team with the highest accumulated score is the league champion. Tournaments are held on Saturdays at one of the participating schools.
Well done, Crusaders!
