On Thursday, October 5, 2023, the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) held the annual Fall District Meeting (FDM) at Monroe-Woodbury High School, where schools that attended included Carmel High School, Northern Academy High School, Tri-Valley High School, and Minisink High School. State Senator James Skoufis attended the meeting as the guest speaker. He spoke about important skills and advice he learned working with businesses as a political leader.
Following this session, three rounds of workshop sessions followed where members were able to go to different workshops being offered. Each workshop highlighted specific areas of FBLA, including Program of Work (POW), Preparing for Competitions, Public Speaking, How To Become a State Officer, and more. The workshops offered were led by Ava Cherian (Chapter Executive Vice President), Angela Lala (NYS FBLA Parliamentarian), Elise Carpenter (NYS FBLA Secretary), Sohum Aggarwal (NYS FBLA Executive Vice President), and others.
Later, the closing session was held where all attending schools sent up a member to participate in the Battle of the Chapters competition of NYS FBLA trivia, along with a Coin Drop challenge, where schools competed to raised the most money for the NYS FBLA State Charity K9’s for Warriors. Monroe-Woodbury won the Coin drop and Carmel won the FBLA Battle of the Chapters Trivia.
Thanks to everyone that helped. The 2023 Fall District Meeting was a success!
