The Monroe-Woodbury Central School District is projected to receive an increase of $14,833, 987 in Foundation Aid from New York State for the 2023-2024 school year. This significant increase has enabled the district to propose a budget with a zero percent increase in the tax levy for the first time in nearly 20 years.

2023-2024 is the third and final year of a New York State Education Department (NYSED) requirement for districts receiving a substantial Foundation Aid increase to create and post a plan for how the Foundation Aid will be used to address student performance and need. Examples include: increasing graduation rates; reducing class sizes; providing academic support to students; supporting social-emotional health; and providing resources for English Language Learners, Special Education students and homeless students. For reference, please see the report submitted for the 2022-2023 school year.

Districts are required to seek public comment from teachers, parents and other stakeholders on the development of the plan and include an analysis of the comments within the plan. Please email comments to Patrick Cahill, Assistant Superintendent for Business & Management Services, pcahill@mw.k12.ny.us, by June 9, 2023. The plan must be submitted to NYSED and posted to the district website no later July 1, 2023.
