The Monroe-Woodbury High School Chamber Orchestra, Voice Ensemble and Wind Ensemble performed at the WorldStrides Heritage Music Competition Festival in Philadelphia this past weekend. The musicianship of the students and the artistry of their directors was on full display.  

Monroe-Woodbury left the awards ceremony as the highest decorated school at the competition. Congratulations to Mrs. Byrne, Dr. Crone, Mr. Regan, and all of their students.  

Awards included:

  • All three ensembles received Superior Gold Ratings

  • All three ensembles received top score in their respective classes

  • All three ensembles received top overall score in their genre (band/orchestra/chorus)

  • Chamber Orchestra was the highest rated orchestral ensemble

  • Voice Ensemble was the highest rated choral ensemble

  • Wind Ensemble was the highest rated instrumental ensemble (and closest overall ensemble to a perfect score)

  • Two individual musicians took home soloists awards: soprano Ashley Castillo and violinist Max Hershkowitz

  • And all three ensembles earned the coveted "adjudicator awards" (given only to ensembles that receive a score of 95 or higher)

These award- winning ensembles will be performing live this Thursday, May 4, at 7pm in the HS auditorium. Hope to see you there!
