Meet Jenna Rowen-Delson, the 2022-2023 MWCSD Board of Education Student Representative. We asked Jenna a few questions to get to know her better- read below! Congratulations, Jenna!
Q: How many years have you been going to school in M-W?
A: I’ve been attending M-W since kindergarten, so this is my 13th year!
Q: What activities/sports/organizations are you involved in?
A: I run the Youth and Government club at the high school, serve as the Secretary of Student Council, and participate in Mock Trial.
Q: How do you view the role of BOE Student Representative?
A: I see this role as very important in ensuring students have their voices heard. Oftentimes, students are left out of the loop in decisions that affect them, and it can be hard to see a student’s perspective if you don’t hear from them. The Student Representative provides administrators with the student perspective on important issues they discuss at board meetings, as well as student concerns the Board of Education might not know exist. This role is a step towards ensuring all students' needs are being met. It allows me to support Monroe-Woodbury students as a whole.
Q: What do you hope to accomplish this year as Student BOE Representative?
A: I hope to visit as many schools and talk to as many students as possible each month to give the most inclusive and varied presentation on student’s thoughts at each board meeting. I’d like to see increased communication between the Board of Education and Monroe-Woodbury students, and hope to help students with the mental stress of school and the transition to post-pandemic schooling.
Q: Describe yourself in three words.
A: Passionate, outgoing, persistent
Q: Describe M-W in three words.
A: Welcoming, challenging, motivating
Q: Favorite school memory (so far)?
A: The Pine Tree Elementary School fourth grade kickball tournament is a memory that’s very hard to top.
Q: What is something that people don’t know about you?
A: I’m left-handed, which is a random unique thing that I’m oddly proud of.
