As we begin our third full week of the 2024-2025 school year, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude for entrusting us with your children’s care. I had a front row seat last week as several schools were placed on lockout. District leaders’ swift planning and communication were instrumental in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff.

What cannot be overlooked, however, is the critical role you play during these types of emergency situations. Your support, cooperation and trust allowed our team to make decisions that were best for all children and staff. Thank you for partnering with us in our efforts to provide the safest learning environment possible.

Behind the scenes, our leadership team is actively preparing, debriefing, and refining our plans. This crucial work is ongoing, and we want to assure you that your children's well-being is paramount to our planning.

On a lighter note, I had the distinct pleasure of meeting with some of our wonderful high school students on Friday morning, among them our Student Board of Education Representative Dylan Escobar. While this was an opportunity for our students to get to know me, I turned the tables on them to learn more about life in MWHS. Please take a few minutes to view the first in a series of videos I will be recording with our students throughout the school year.

Please mark your calendars for an informal “Meet and Greet” with me on Thursday, October 10, from 5 - 6 p.m. in the MWHS small cafeteria. I hope to see you there! More information will follow.

Warm regards,

Tracy Norman
Superintendent of Schools
