Congratulations to MWHS student Veronica Wolnicki who will compete at the Upstate Junior Science & Humanities Symposium (JSHS) competition hosted by the Rochester Institute for Technology on Feb. 1. This STEM competition, supported by the Department of Defense, challenges high school students to achieve and build skills that prepare them for college and careers. Participants perform original STEM research, showcase their findings in an oral presentation or research poster, and compete for both scholarships and invitations to represent the region at the National JSHS event. More than 1,000 high school students applied and only 48 oral presenters were selected for the in-person regional event. We’re so proud of you, Veronica!👏💜
Many students and family members may recognize Mr. Foley as a school safety officer at Smith Clove. What you may not know is that he and his lovely wife spread cheer throughout the M-W community by dressing up as Mr. and Mrs. Claus during the holiday season. This year, the Foleys raised more than $6,000 for their appearances and have donated this generous gift to the MWCSD Nurse and Health Offices to support the important work they do for our students. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Foley, the M-W community is very grateful!💜🎅🤶

Scholar-Athlete teams require that 75 percent of the team rosters’ grade point average be 90.00 or above. Ho! Ho! Ho! Before heading back to the North Pole, Santa made a surprise visit to a very special classroom at Smith Clove. The joy on the faces of the students and teachers as Santa entered their classroom, was enough to light the way back to headquarters.💜
He’s making a list and checking it twice! He’s making his rounds, so you better be nice! This week, Santa visited our littlest Crusaders and spread cheer and the inviting spirit of the holiday season throughout our schools. Students enjoyed many memorable events, including a special story-time, fun-filled assembly and a visit with alpacas! 🦙🎅
Due to the forecast for wintry weather this afternoon, all Monroe-Woodbury students will be dismissed early today, Friday, December 20, 2024, to give our transportation team sufficient time to safely transport all students.
Dismissal times for each school are as follows:
M-W High School: 10:30 a.m.
Sapphire UPK: 11:10 a.m.
M-W Middle School: 11:37 a.m.
Sapphire and Smith Clove (K-1): 11:45 a.m.
Central Valley, North Main, Pine Tree: 12:45 p.m.
Buses will arrive at bus stops three hours earlier than usual. All after school activities, including YMCA Club Kid and Community Swim, are canceled. Morning CTE students will be transported home from BOCES and PM CTE classes are canceled. Families of out-of-district students will receive transportation information directly from their student’s school.

Kids Changing the World club (KCW) completed their annual Hats for Hope drive. The club collected new, cozy hats and donated them to the Garnet Health Cancer Center. These hats are given out to cancer patients during the colder months, so those undergoing treatment can stay warm. Excellent work, Crusaders! 💜
