For your awareness: FEMA, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) this fall. This test will consist of two portions, testing both WEA and EAS capabilities. Both tests are scheduled to begin at approximately 2:20 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Oct. 4. In case the Oct. 4 test is postponed due to widespread severe weather or other significant events, the backup testing date is Oct. 11. The WEA portion of the test will be directed to all consumer cell phones. The EAS portion of the test will be sent to radios and televisions.

Due to the forecast for ongoing rain throughout the day, all Monroe-Woodbury students will be dismissed one hour early today, Friday, September 29. Severe weather of this type may result in flash flooding and dangerous travel conditions, as we have recently experienced. Dismissal times for each building are as follows: MWHS - 12:58 p.m. MWMS - 2:00 p.m. Central Valley, North Main, Pine Tree - 2:45 p.m. Sapphire UPK - 1:10 p.m. Sapphire, Smith Clove - 1:50 p.m. Important Notes: If your child is a regular pick-up, please adjust your schedule accordingly and arrive at school one hour earlier than normal. If your child is not a regular pick-up, please do not come to the school building while dismissal is underway as it will delay the process. Our goal is to get students on the buses as quickly as possible and on their way home. All after school activities are canceled. Out-of-district students will follow their regular transportation schedules. Additional information will come directly from your child’s principal. Please be patient as our drivers navigate their routes and work to safely transport all students home.

It is close, but it's possible that more Crusaders headed to the Dominican Republic this summer than to Disney World. Based on these pictures, it must be the weather and the amazing color of the ocean! What great vacations to remember as summer ends!
