April 11, 2025
Dear Monroe-Woodbury families,
At its regular meeting on Wednesday, April 9, the Monroe-Woodbury Board of Education approved the appointment of Christopher Berger as Deputy Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources, effective July 1, 2025. Mr. Berger will replace Lori Hock, who has announced her intent to retire from her position as Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources as of August 18, 2025. Upon her departure, Mr. Berger will assume the title of Assistant Superintendent.
Mr. Berger is an established member of the district leadership team and a long-standing member of the Crusader family. He has spent his entire 23-year career in Monroe-Woodbury. Most recently, Mr. Berger serves as Principal of Monroe-Woodbury Middle School. He has also been Principal and Assistant Principal of Smith Clove Elementary School and began his M-W career as a fifth grade teacher at Central Valley Elementary School.
Mr. Berger is well known in the district as a strong leader and effective collaborator who cares deeply about the Monroe-Woodbury community. I am confident that he will bring this same level of commitment to his new role.
The search for a new principal at the middle school is underway. We hope to appoint Mr. Berger’s successor before the end of the school year.
Please join me in congratulating Mr. Berger and wishing him well in this next chapter at Monroe-Woodbury. I’m excited to see all that he will accomplish as part of the district-level leadership team.
Enjoy your spring recess and we look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday, April 22.
Warm regards,
Tracy Norman, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
