Monroe-Woodbury Middle School seventh grade students Felix Fazekas and Maxtan Manuelpillai earned a gold medal in the Metric Mastery division at this year’s New York State Science Olympiad. Coached by MS Science teacher Mr. Amanatides, these first time competitors were excited to take part in this STEM (Science Technology Math and Engineering) competition!
Hosted by MWMS, the 2025 New York State Science Olympiad Mid-Hudson Region - Division B tournament celebrates STEM education while developing relationships between students and leaders within the industry. Competitors are tested on 23 different categories ranging from coding, disease detection, entomology to wind power. Our Crusaders had the highest score overall by converting metric units.
