Elementary Report Cards
During Fall 2023, a team of MW teachers and administrators have worked to revamp the current elementary report card. There are a number of reasons for the changes, which involved a continued understanding of the NYS Standards along with large amounts of discussion and collaboration across the grade levels.

Why make changes?
Continued Alignment with NYSED Standards
These standards outline the learning goals and expectations for students at each grade level in various subjects, including English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. The report cards were revised to reflect the content and skills expected at each grade level according to NYSED standards, providing a clear framework for assessing student progress.
Specific Information about Student Performance
The increased specificity helps to provide a more accurate and comprehensive picture of a child's performance. These specific details will help families and teachers better understand both their child’s strengths and areas needing improvement, enabling more targeted support and intervention.
Identifying Areas for Improvement
The new report cards also clearly identify areas where students need improvement to meet grade-level expectations. This empowers teachers, students, and families to focus on specific skills and knowledge that require attention.
Enhanced Communication with Students, Parents and Staff
The revised report cards aim to provide more comprehensive and clear communication with students, families, and staff. This enhanced clarity helps in creating a common language and expectations.
What can you expect to see?
You can expect to see more detailed descriptions of subjects on the new report card. Below is an example of the Math section of the previous 4th grade report card and the revised 4th grade report card.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What does N/A mean?
A: There are indicators on the report card that may not be covered at a particular time of the school year. This is particularly evident in Math. While a topic such as Measurement, Data and Geometry are listed, the teacher may not have yet covered the particular standards within that topic due to where it falls within the greater grade-level curriculum. As a result, N/A will be marked on the report card.
