Capital Project Voter Information
On December 6, 2022, registered voters in the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District are asked to vote on a proposed capital project to replace or upgrade crucial systems in M-W schools. The polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Education Center, 278 Route 32, Central Valley, NY 10917.
All residents can expect to receive in the mail a notice about the proposed project in the weeks prior to the vote. If you do not receive the capital project notice, please contact the Communications Office at 845-460-6200, ext. 6262 or email: communications@mw.k12.ny.us to request that one be mailed to you. Details are also available on the district website, the district Facebook page, and in local newspapers.
Voter Eligibility
You are eligible to vote if you are a United States citizen, 18 years or older, and a resident of the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District for at least 30 days prior to the date of the vote.
If you are registered to vote in general elections, you are automatically eligible to vote in school elections.
If you are not registered to vote in general elections, you can obtain a registration form in the office of the District Clerk, at any school building or download a New York State Voter Registration Form. Mail or deliver it to the Orange County Board of Elections.
You may also register to vote ONLY in Monroe-Woodbury district elections and not in general elections. If that is your preference, please complete and submit to the office of the District Clerk the following form: M-WCSD ONLY VOTER REGISTRATION
Absentee Ballots
Absentee Ballots are available to registered residents who are unable to vote in person for reasons of illness or disability or who will be out of town on the date of the vote. To receive an Absentee Ballot, voters must submit an Application for Absentee Ballot Form. The Applications are available from the Acting Clerk of the District by calling (845)460-6200 ext. 6203 or by downloading the Application for Absentee Ballot.
The completed Application for Absentee Ballot must be received by the Acting Clerk of the District before an Absentee Ballot can be provided to the voter. The Acting Clerk of the District provides Absentee Ballots either:
BY MAIL:
If the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, the completed application must be received by the Clerk of the School District no later than 4:30 o'clock P.M., Tuesday, November 29, 2022.
IN PERSON at the Education Center:
If the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter, the completed application must be received by the Clerk of the School District no later than 4:30 o'clock P.M., Monday, December 5, 2022.
Absentee ballots must be received by the Clerk of the School District no later than 5:00 o'clock P.M., on the date of the Special District Meeting.
