Capital Program Scope of Work - North Main Elementary School

Replacements and Upgrades

Boiler and heating system replaced = $10,826,280

North Main's boilers were installed in 1971. At 51 years old, they are the fourth oldest in the district.

The entire heating system, currently a steam system, would be replaced with a more efficient and cost-effective hydronic (hot water) system. This would not only address heating inconsistencies across the building but would also decrease fuel and maintenance costs.

Replace and repair roof = $3,433,080

North Main's entire roof, including the access hatches and ladders to the roof, will be replaced. The roof leaks in a number of classrooms as well as in the library, requiring the use of buckets to catch water during rainstorms, and results in frequent replacement of ceiling panels.

Upgrade safety systems = $1,765,584

Upgrade fire alarms and carbon monoxide monitors

Safety public address system = $1,464,000

Upgrade public address system and clocks

Upgrade electrical system = $1,354,200

  • Electrical panel upgrades $695,400

  • Replace main electrical (switch gear) $658,800

Exterior brick pointing = $630,328

There is significant damage to some of the building's brick exterior walls, which have been damaged by age, wind and weather.
