Dear Smith Clove families and staff,
It is with great pleasure that I write today to share that, effective immediately, Nicole Cook has been appointed Smith Clove Principal. Ms. Cook replaces Mr. Berger, who has accepted the position of Principal at Monroe-Woodbury Middle School. I am excited to see how these dedicated administrators shine in their new roles within our school district.
Many of you have most likely crossed paths with Ms. Cook as Smith Cloveās Assistant Principal, a position she has held for five years. Prior to Smith Clove, Ms. Cook served as District Music Coordinator for five years and taught music at both Monroe-Woodbury Middle School and Central Valley Elementary School since coming to Monroe-Woodbury in 2003.
Ms. Cook has proven to be a compassionate and supportive leader, as well as a strong advocate for our youngest students and their families. Her high energy and creative spirit lend themselves well to the important work of shaping our studentsā first educational experiences. I look forward to seeing what this next chapter holds for Smith Clove under Ms. Cookās direction.
I am also thrilled to share that Chana Markiewicz, who has served as Assistant Principal at Monroe-Woodbury High School for five years, will replace Ms. Cook as Assistant Principal, effective July 18. Mrs. Markiewicz began her career as an elementary school teacher and then worked as a Curriculum and Instruction Specialist. She will bring her strong elementary curriculum background and expertise to the students of Smith Clove.
Please join me in wishing this outstanding administrative team all the best in their new leadership roles. I am confident that together they will help to sustain a warm, engaging, caring school culture that supports students, families and our dedicated Smith Clove staff.
Warm Regards,
Elsie Rodriguez
Superintendent of Schools
