REPLACEMENTS AND UPGRADES

Replace boilers and steam heating system with hydronic (hot water) system

Replace boilers and heating system = $13,278,480

Central Valley's boilers were installed in 1982

The entire heating system, a steam system designed in 1982, would be replaced with a more efficient and cost-effective hydronic (hot water) system. This would not only address heating inconsistencies across the building, but would also decrease fuel and maintenance costs.

Replace roof, access ladders and roof hatches

Replace and repair roof = $5,624,102

Upgrade building safety and security

Upgrade safety systems = $3,371,592

The following systems will be upgraded:

  • fire alarms

  • carbon monoxide monitors

  • clocks and public address systems

  • electrical panel

Central Valley's entire roof, including the access hatches and ladders to the roof, will be replaced. The roof leaks in a number of classrooms and areas of the school, requiring the use of buckets to catch water during rainstorms, and results in replacement of ceiling panels.

Replace damaged exterior panels and glass block wall in gymnasium

Exterior repairs = $2,196,000

There is significant damage to some of the panels that form part of the building's exterior walls. In addition, the gym was built with a second story made of glass blocks. Over the years, those blocks have been damaged by wind and weather.

ENHANCEMENTS

Central Valley Auditorium wall refurbishment = $146,400

The walls in the auditorium will be refurbished. Central Valley's auditorium is the third largest public meeting space in the district and is used by our students and community for a wide array of events and performances every year.
