Capital Program Scope of Work - Pine Tree Elementary School
Replacements and Upgrades
Replace and repair roof = $4,919,040
Pine Tree's entire roof, including the access hatches and ladders to the roof, will be replaced. The roof leaks in a number of classrooms as well as in the library, requiring the use of buckets to catch water during rainstorms, and results in frequent replacement of ceiling panels.

Replace boiler and heating system = $11,616,840
Pine Tree's boilers were installed in 1960. At 62 years old, they are the oldest in the district
The entire heating system, currently a steam system as designed in 1960, would be replaced with a more efficient and cost-effective hydronic (hot water) system. This would not only address heating inconsistencies across the building, but would also decrease fuel and maintenance costs.

Upgrade safety systems = $1,264,896
The following systems will be upgraded:
fire alarms
carbon monoxide monitors
Repair exterior = $366,000
There is significant damage to some of the building's brick exterior walls, which have been damaged by age, wind and weather.

Additional security improvements = $292,800
A security vestibule will be created to provide Raptor system ID verification at the front entry, rather than at the rear of the lobby.

A new security vestibule might be similar to the one at the high school
