With the anticipated heat in the upcoming days, the district is working to mitigate temperatures in our schools to ensure the well-being of all students. Tomorrow, Tuesday, June 18, air conditioned areas and water stations will be available in each of the school buildings. Building administrators will continue to monitor classrooms through the day to make sure everyone is as comfortable as possible. Classes will have access to the air conditioned areas as needed. As you are aware, schools and offices are closed on Wednesday, June 19, in honor of Juneteenth. After reviewing the student calendar and taking into consideration the upcoming weather, the district will now move up the early dismissal schedule to include Thursday, June 20. The early dismissal times on Thursday, June 20, are as follows: UPK - 11:10 a.m. dismissal, M-W Middle School – 11:37 a.m. dismissal, Sapphire and Smith Clove (K-1) – 11:45 a.m. dismissal, Central Valley, North Main, Pine Tree – 12:45 p.m. dismissal. High school exams will remain as scheduled. Friday, June 21, is an established early dismissal per the district calendar and will follow the same schedule outlined above. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. We are excited to share the final days of school with your children.

Congratulations to MWHS Student-Athlete Elaina Wood for your impressive accomplishments on and off the field! You truly embody the characteristics of a Monroe-Woodbury Crusader. Elaina is a second year starter for the Girl’s Flag Football team. Elaina currently maintains a 93 average, challenging herself with honors and AP courses. As a member of the team, Elaina’s primary position is a defensive rusher. As of the end of April, Elaina registered 42 tackles with a handful of them being QB sacks. According to Coach Elaine Schellberg: “Elaina is a true Crusader. She is “locked in” in the classroom and on the athletic field. Besides striving to be her personal best, she pushes and supports her classmates and teammates to do the same”. The Student Spotlight recognizes one student-athlete each week who truly represents #crusaderpride. Way to go, Elaina!

MWHS students recently visited the United States Military Academy in West Point for a unique, interactive and fun physical education learning experience. Students participated in a physical education workout, cadet obstacle course, and beginner's combatives. They also observed cadets in their aquatics workout, rock wall climbing class, and saw West Point's state of the art facilities firsthand. What a great opportunity for our students!💪🇺🇸😅
