M-W Varsity Girls Track & Field team wins fourth consecutive O.C.I.A.A. championship

Monroe-Woodbury Varsity girls track and field wins OCIAA Championship.Congratulations to all the 2016-2017 members the Monroe-Woodbury Varsity Girls Track and Field on their fourth consecutive O.C.I.A.A. Championship win on January 27 at West Point. This marks the team’s sixth championship win in the last eight years.

The Lady Crusaders held off a tough and inspired Goshen High School team, who scored 91 points to Monroe-Woodbury’s 115 points. The coaching staff is extremely proud of the equally inspiring performances the Lady Crusaders put forth as the team successfully defended their title. The Lady Crusaders earned the divisional title last weekend and looks forward to defending their Section 9 title at West Point on February 10.

The team had several O.C.I.A.A. champions, starting with Senior Katie Casazza in the Weight Throw, Junior Lisa Jacobsen in the High Jump, Junior Kristin Lubeskie in the Pole Vault, Sophomore Asya Jeune in the Triple Jump and Junior Margaret Ryan in the 1500m Walk.

8. 1500m-Annie Kurdziel-5th and Jessica Pidgeon-6th

9. 1500m Walk-Olivia Fischer-4th

10. 3000m-Annie Kurdziel-4th and Julia Hoyt-6th

11. Long Jump-Seraya Friedman-3rd and Asya Jeune-5th

12. Pole Vault-Gabby Nebiker-4th
