Don’t miss this annual event showcasing the wonderful diversity of our community! Come to sample foods from around the world, watch fun performances, and meet members of the M-W family who represent cultures from around the globe.
If you want to participate in Multicultural Night, district families are invited to join in the celebration by sharing their heritage through food, music, dance or by demonstrating a craft or skill. Each family or group can reserve a table to set up their display and to serve samples of typical foods. Some groups choose to sing, dance or perform music. The options are endless! The deadline to reserve a display table or space is March 31.
Last year, 24+ countries were represented (the plus includes a group of students who represented various countries from the Central America region). Other countries such as China, Dominican Republic, France, India, Ireland, Italy and Mexico were represented multiple times. Also presenting were: Canada, Chile, Cuba, England, Iran, Israel, Jamaica, Norway, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Scotland, Senegal (West Africa), Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom and the United States of America.
Last year’s presentations included dances native to Indian and Pakistan, African drumming performed by Middle School students, a choral performance by Central Valley students and the list goes on.
In addition to Monroe-Woodbury Middle School, Central Valley Elementary School, North Main Elementary School, Pine Tree Elementary School and the Monroe-Woodbury High School participated in this special event.
