M-W shines during filming of “The OA”

on April 7, 2016

Film making is a complex business, as many M-W staff and students learned while “The OA” Netflix crew was shooting at the high school over spring recess. Long days and organized chaos were the norm!

The district wishes to thank everyone who played a role in making the shoot such a success: custodians, administrators, teachers, food service workers, buildings and grounds, safety officers and more. Thanks also to the students who served as extras, especially the high school chorus and the boys’ lacrosse team. You were all professional and represented the district in a wonderful way.

Below are excerpts from a message sent by the location director:

Thank you so much for all of your help with the show.  We received numerous compliments from other members of the crew that it was the best experience they had ever had filming in a school, and your efforts were absolutely a part of that.I got the impression that your school had an immense amount of pride and was a successful place for your students and staff. The vibe emanated from the walls!  Seems like such a good place to go to school.

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!
