The Monroe-Woodbury Crusader Ice Hockey team is serious about playing hockey. They’re also pretty serious about making a difference in the lives of others.
The team recently hosted the 2nd Annual Winter Classic game at Bear Mountain Ice Arena. Admission to the game was an unwrapped toy for the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital.
The Crusaders played the North Rockland Raiders in an outside arena, complete with a burning fire, two beautifully decorated trees and refreshments donated by Jay’s Deli and Mount Ivy Deli.
Players from both teams and their coaches happily delivered more than 300 toys to the Children’s Hospital. It was a win-win for the teams and the patients at the hospital.
This exciting annual event will be even more special next year when a patient from Maria Fareri will participate in the ceremonial puck drop. Now that’s true #Crusader Pride!
And a winning team, on and off the ice.
