Desk clean-out school supply drive – donate “gently used” items

on June 19, 2017

The M-W PTA is participating in supporting a community outreach program to collect “gently used” school supplies for disadvantaged students. Watch for collection boxes being placed in each building. As desks are being cleaned-out this week, please separate those items that are unused or still in good, usable condition and place them in the collection boxes and not in the trash! Recycling + community outreach = an excellent Crusader choice!

Here are the details:

The Village of Harriman will begin a new community outreach program.  Our goal is to help in the aid of recycling school supplies and helping the less fortunate children of our community.  As the school year comes to an end, we ask you to think of the following items before you dispose of things.

  • Did you over buy an item that will never be used?
  • Is something lightly used and can be reused by someone else next year?
  • Did you use one or two pages out of a spiral note book?  Or just over bought because the price was right?
  • Did you purchase different kinds of books or other items that can’t be passed down to siblings?
  • Do you have string bags that can be reused or were obtained as a give-a-way?
  • Do you plan on buying new back pack next year but your current one could still could be used?

Thank you for anything you can do to help!
