A statement from Monroe-Woodbury Board of Education President Jon Huberth and Superintendent of Schools Elsie Rodriguez
A state Supreme Court justice today approved the annexation of 164 acres of land from the Town of Monroe to Kiryas Joel. Now that the court has rendered a decision, the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District will conclude its research into the impacts of this annexation and develop a specific plan of action.
As part of our ongoing research, district officials have met with representatives from Kiryas Joel. These discussions will resume, specifically to discuss next steps and the advisability of modifying our mutual boundaries and its impact on our taxpayers.
The district will continue sharing information with our Monroe-Woodbury families as decisions are made and plans progress. As always, the well-being of our students and families is the factor considered most as we plan for the future.
